Blists Hill Victorian Town

Posted on

Three days at Blists Hill Victorian Town Saturday 2nd, Sunday 3rd, and Monday 4th June. Sunday saw small crowds due to alot of rain however, Saturday and Monday saw large crowds. We played twice each day as per the event timetable and many times around the town drawing crouds as we did so. We worked with the horses so as not to frighten them and would play wherever the various shows needed a crowd. It was great to meet up with old friends and to make new ones. I was very pleased with the turn out so far from home. We had 9 pipers and 2 drummers. The playing was consistantly awsome to say physical exhasution played its part (so did whiskey in some cases lol)

I'm so happy to hear how well it went at Blist Hills. I found this site through a Google search for the Seaforth Highlanders Notts Branch, as I'm George Priest's granddaughter, and attended many meetings as a child. I'm touched to see my granddad mentioned on the Pipe Major's blog, but also to see that the band is playing at some great events, despite the rain. Thank you. :-)
