  1. Turner Hall Christmas Market 2013

Christmas market at Turner Hall, Mansfield Woodhouse.

A great atmosphere, lots to see and do. It is looking a lot like christmas.

A bit tight on stage due to the number of Band members able to attend this event but I am pleased to say we played well and had a good time. Thank you Turner Hall.

  2. The Band has been out today. Unfortunately the "official Photographer" was otherwise engaged so I have no pictures to post.

We have been to The Portland College Christmas Market.  The market was jam-packed full of craft stalls, delicious local food and beers, together with entertainment for all the family and Santa’s Grotto.

We had the pleasure of marching up the driveway at the opening and then went round most of the stalls hopefully bringing some Christmas fun

  3. We led the Remembrance Parade at Mansfield on this cold but dry day, as it usually is. I am sure that this parade is getting bigger each year and I am sure the crowd was bigger. Thank you to all the people who turned out to remember.

The band played well and sounded superb with the new matched chanters. Gordon kept a good but fantastically loud beat with the felt beaters on the “old thumper” (bass drum).

Kev West had his debut as a side drummer with this band and well done Kev, looked good and reportedly played well.

Well done to Courtney one of our novice pipers who turned out and marched at the rear of the band.

Thank you to each member of the band superb job, I could not be prouder.

  4. 200 Walkers turned up for the annual sponsored walk in memory of Ashley Clarkson this weekend starting at the Major Oak in Sherwood Forest, ending at Carr Bank Park. Where they were met by the Seaforth Highlanders and escorted through the park to the memorial.

This was a fun day with hog roast, bouncy castle, falcon show, Shetland pony rides, live bandstand music and stalls among other attractions.

It is good to be part of the great people of the Mansfield area coming together to support such a good cause.

  5.

The band lead a parade from the front of the St. Peters C of E Primary School to the play field at the rear. There were many children in fancy dress with thier parents and friends.

The weather was great sunshine all day. The main arena was packed with entertainment throughout the day and we played mid afternoon to a most appreciative crowd.

Unusually I would like to say to all the band well done. Played superb and all the photos I have we were in step. :)

Welcome to Jack Wright the new Executive Officer whom performed his duties superbly.

Nice beat on the base drum from Tony despite him being the Pipe Sergeant (when needs must).

Yet another great day out at the East Bridgford Village Gala

  6. What a week end we had at Blists Hill. Renewing old acquaintances and making new ones. There were many more visitors this year due to the fantastic weather and I would like to think the band playing there too. Magnificent opportunity for building stamina since we played at least six times each day. I hope we get to go next year. (Dave did play all day, every day)

Great crowds, great staff and great company

  7. A massive thanks to all who came along as guests, band members, family and friends to support the annual dinner. The Oakham suite did us proud with thier outstanding quality of food and service. The bar staff were amazing and nothing was to difficult for them to help us and made the night go seemlessly. Thanks to DJ trev for filling the dance floor.

  8. A mini band added a little atmosphere at a Burns night celebration at the Worksop Masonic Hall on Thursday the 7th February. The guests were piped into the dining room, the haggis was paraded around the room before being addressed by piper Alec Smith and then toasted in accordance with tradition. The band then played two spots during and after the meal to the appreciation of the 50 or so guests. A good night was had by all.

I am sorry there are no pictures but I will get my camera fixed
